Background
When dam foundation treatment and underground caverns run in parallel, deep drilling, standard drilling and grouting need different pressures. The closer the supply matches each process, the lower the energy use.
Challenge
Dam foundation treatment and cavern works ran in parallel with very different pressure needs: deep drilling needs high pressure, while grouting and hole cleaning need only medium pressure.
Solution
Electric units in three pressure steps: the DM185-23/24 (24 bar) for deep, high-pressure drilling, the DM185-26/21 for standard drilling and the DM138-23/19 for medium-pressure grouting and hole cleaning. All are M Series electric units with the same operation and maintenance.
Results
Every process gets a unit matched to its pressure, avoiding throttled high-pressure units; staff learn one set of operating and service procedures; all electric, with no exhaust in the caverns. The units ran steadily through the foundation and cavern works.
